#1 superhero

So, I was surfing Apple's website and watching some movie trailers and was lucky enough to come across this little beauty. Curt and I have been awaiting The Dark Knight since we heard about it, especially Curt. Until tonight, I had only seen teaser trailers. This is a good one and the movie looks amazing, with an all-star cast. I was particularly excited to see Maggie Gyllenhaal making an appearance, she's so great in everything. I think Batman is the number one superhero, the numero uno, the I-Ching. My top three reasons Batman is #1:

1. He doesn't actually have any "super powers". He's a normal person who excels in combat and science and triumphs in bringing foes to justice. (A little bit of anger and revenge can sure do the trick.)
2. He's not a goody goody. He's a bit of a "bad boy".
3. He has no weaknesses, unlike some other caped hero who's afraid of a little green rock.

Here is a list of 10 things that all superheroes need:
1. Extraordinary powers and abilities, such as martial arts and forensic science.
2. A strong moral code, including a willingness to risk one's safety in the service of good without expectation of reward.
3. A secret identity that protects the superhero's friends and family from becoming targets of his or her enemies.
4. A motivation, such as a sense of responsibility, a personal vendetta against criminals, or a strong belief in justice and humanitarian service.
5. A distinctive costume, often used to conceal the secret identity.
6. An underlying motif or theme that affects the hero's name, costume, personal effects, and other aspects of his or her character.
7. A number of enemies that the hero fights repeatedly, including an archenemy who is more troubling than the others.
8. A headquarters or base of operations, usually kept hidden from the general public.
9. A supporting cast of recurring characters, including the hero's friends, co-workers and/or love interests who may or may not know of the superhero's secret identity.
10. An "origin story" that explains the circumstances by which the character acquired his or her abilities as well as his or her motivation for becoming a superhero.

So check out this great trailer and get ready for the Dark Knight!

here's the thing... you forgot number 11 on your superhero list. A superhero kills people... people that wish him harm.
